Help Tell Mama go to Lilith Fair!

NOTICE: Because we realize that this process is irritating and time-consuming we have decided to offer a FREE CD to anyone who can email a screenshot of their voting process with Tell Mama in spot number one. Please send screenshot and mailing info to: bigmama [at] tellmama [dot] net !
Thanks to the wonders of social media and the internet, Tell Mama has a super opportunity to win a chance to go and perform at Lilith Fair when they come to Toronto on July 24, 2010! How can I help? you ask?! We need you to publicly proclaim your love for us, to stand in front of the altar of live music and say “I do” to our tune “Let It Ride”. There are thirteen more days of voting before round one closes. The top twenty tunes for all the chick-fronted bands in the Toronto voting area will move on to the next round – the quarter finals. Help us to get there and we will tell you the rest of the details! Now, it’s not a simple, go to the web page and click the ‘I love Tell Mama” button. You will need to register for a free account with OurStage.com (via facebook) . But don’t worry, this is not a bad thing – not if you love new, live music! We want as many people as possible to be able to help us out with this so I thought it would facilitate things if I gave you a step-by-step instructional on what you need to do. Please, please, please help a sister out! Check out who else is already on the Lilith roster here: Lilith Fair artists Wouldn’t it be awesome if Tell Mama could play alongside some of these great performers? Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could say that you helped?! Ok, step one:
1. Go to the OurStage login / voting page: http://www.ourstage.com/go/lilithtoronto CLICK THE JUDGE AS A FAN BUTTON.
2. This will take you to a screen that asks if you will allow OurStage to hook into your facebook account. This is a facebook plugin (like Farmville or Mobile photo uploads etc…) that you need to enable in order to proceed with the voting – I know, it’s irritating but please bear with us! CLICK THE ALLOW BUTTON.
3. You will get a screen asking which city you want to vote in regards to. Toronto is in the right column of the second row. CLICK LOCAL LILITH TALENT SEARCH: TORONTO
4. You will see a voting page with four excellent bands listed. Tell Mama will probably not be one of them. At least, not until you tell OurStage that Tell Mama is your favorite band! CLICK ON THE ARTIST TAB – look in the right sidebar and click to select your Favorite Band. The bands are listed alphabetically – Tell Mama is around page 23. Select Tell Mama.
5.When you do this you will get a facebook prompt to announce to all of your friends that you have just selected Tell Mama as your favorite band. Please type something like “Vote for Tell Mama’s “Let It Ride” in the Lilith Fair Talent Contest!” CLICK PUBLISH.
6. Here is where it really starts to get interesting…go to the Judge tab, listen to each track for 15 seconds and rate the four artists that are listed. Then judge the next four and the next four until you get to Tell Mama (it took me seven pages before I got to us the first time) – PUT TELL MAMA IN THE FIRST SLOT!
Apparently if you come back each day and do this (that’s right, you can vote every day until the contest closes!) Tell Mama will show up earlier and earlier in the process – honest! According to Karl Everest, Community Manager for OurStage:
Unfortunately there is no way to directly navigate to your band to vote. What you’ll need to do is listen to 15 seconds of each band, sort them from best to worst and then click Submit. Then four more bands will pop up. You’ll need to do this until your band comes up. We have it set up this way so our contest are based on the quality of the music rather than who is the most popular. If you’d like, you can declare your band as your favorite artist and then you will be guaranteed to come up at least once per day in the first 20 battles you judge. This can be done by clicking the green “Make This My Favorite Artist” button on your overview tab.
So, we know that this represents quite an effort on the part of our would-be fans. So, here is what we are going to do for you (assuming you even made it to the end of this post!) Anyone who marks us as their favorite band will have the opportunity to purchase our cd for half price ($10). That’s an awesome deal!
